Visitings during Christmas

Besides spending Christmas at my big bro's, we've also made a trip to Uncle Nicky's. The Christmas lunch celebration at Teck Guan seems like a yearly event too. The kids will always look forward to it as they get to receive their Christmas gifts. Anyway, it was fun to do some catching ups with everyone. And judging from the happy expressions and giggly mood of our bundle of joy, Ethan definitely enjoyed the play time sessions with Uncle Nicky and Aunt Doris :)

We also dropped by at Aunt Jane's house later that evening just to wish Aunt Jane and family Merry Christmas. It was also to finally bring and introduce Ethan to her and to thank her for all the things that she has done when Ethan was in the hospital previously.

Is luck on your side?

I've always dreamed about winning the lottery so that I could enjoy the Cash Prize. Recently, MIL and my mum told me about a Sweeptake that have reached almost RM13 million. I for one was very tempted and tried to buy one or two tickets just to try out my luck. Unfortunately luck is not on my side as the places that I tried to purchase the Sweeptake ran out of the tickets! Double sigh when the one place that still has tickets for sales was closed as the seller went out for lunch!!

Anyway, maybe lottery is not for me, maybe I should try some luck for some Free gifts instead. Talking about free gifts, I came across a unique online reverse-auction or low bid online game where winners can win prizes from a wide range of products by offering the most unique lowest bid. Some of the free gifts include portable iPod PA system, New York broadway show, $1,000 Grocery Store Gift Card, Samsung Q1 Mobile PC w/GPS, trip to the Big Game in Glendale SB XLII, Nintendo Wii and many more. So should you fancy for some really cool free gifts, why not try the user friendly and easy to play online reverse-auction game at bid4prizes.com. Who knows you might end up bringing home some really great prizes!! Furthermore, thanks to the advanced technology, you can have the options of playing it online or via your mobile. How convenient especially if you're always on the go! Oh did I also mentioned that there are daily winners and bidders can also win tokens for arcade games that they could win instant prizes starting from $100 to $1 million dollars?? And if you're wondering, you can participate Bid4Prizes FOC or simply pay a $9.90 a month for extra benefits like free monthly ringtone, cell phone bidding with no advertisement being displayed while bidding online. What a unique and interesting game huh...

Boxing Day

Both hubby and I are on leave till next year, so we've decided to prepare simple lunch meal at our apartment yesterday for a small family gathering. It was really a last minute decision (at 9.30am!) that we didn't invite everyone though we would have loved to.. Not only time is a factor but space is also another factor to consider.... I guess it is not proper to extend invitation at a very last minute too... Nevertheless, hubby's family members (minus FIL as he had to attend a meeting unfortunately..), Izah & kids, Dominic plus aunty Anda with Yus & his geng dropped by on Boxing Day. I only cooked two dishes i.e. tomato garlic prawns and mixed vege while the rest of the dishes were bought from a nearby restaurant. Hmmm... how I wished the management of this apartment provides a club house that we can utilize during festive seasons ... We could then organize bigger gatherings and invite everyone else...as for now I guess we'll just have to cope with it and perhaps do a few small gatherings at different times...oh well maybe we ought to consider buying landed property in the near future...but with the house prices that is ridiculously marked up nowadays, we just have to put that thought on the shelf for now...just another wishful thinking...

Christmas Day @ Big Bro's

This year, we spent family Christmas lunch at my big bro's new house. Although my bro hasn't finished unpacking all his stuff but the house sure looks big and nice. Our family Christmas lunch is normally an intimate affair where immediate family gather around for a cosy Xmas lunch :)

Christmas Eve at Aunty Roslyn's

We spent Christmas eve at Aunty Roslyn's with the rest of hubby's family and relatives. It's a yearly event where Aunt Roslyn will normally prepare delicious western food which of course includes the traditional Christmas turkey :) We didn't however stayed till the clock striked 12 as Ethan was getting tired and sleepy..perhaps we'll be able to stay longer and spend Christmas with the rest when he is a bit older next year :)

Ho ho ho...Merry Christmas!!

Once again Merry Christmas everyone!! :)

Christmasly mood...

Today is Christmas eve and am pretty excited about it as it will be our first Christmas as a family unit especially with Ethan :) Anyway, with limited time in my hand, I did managed to do a bit of Christmas decoration at home...not much but here are some of them...

Of course what's Christmas without a Christmas tree ;p

Our Christmas wreath
The door knob is not spared too ;p
Another Christmas tree :)

Some small Christmas ornaments...
Ok, that's all I've got this year...hope to add a little bit more next year :) Wanna share your Christmas decor too? :)

Finally a much awaited girls night out!!

After having being confined to my so called "revision time", it was finally over when I sat for my last paper yesterday!! Super duper triple YAY!!! ;p We had planned for our girls night out much earlier but deep down I secretly wanted to grab the opportunity to celebrate my own freedom too! ;p Anyway, armed with Christmasly spirit, we gals had an enjoyable time especially for me as it has been a while since I had a girls night out. Having the 3 or us together (initially 4 but one of our dear friend had to change her plans.. Jade we didn't forget you okay..) was indeed rare due to our own commitments. But catching up was fun especially when we covered many "interesting topics" ;p Anyway, one of the many topics that we gals talked about was for us girls to travel together minus the partners hehe ...As expected, we do see things differently at times. For example when we were talking about the travelling plan, "JW" are into nice 5 star hotels while me and "V" are into shopping. I guess "JW" is fascinated with the royalty treatments in such posh hotels or probably she just loves the luxury and comfortable beds with its fluffy pillows not forgetting the many different designs of bathrooms. Hmmm...I wonder if she is into taps in the bathrooms especially those designer ones in 5 star hotels...I'm not into taps but I do appreciate seeing nice looking designs of showers, electric showers, bathroom accessories, bathroom suites, bathroom furniture, bathroom cabinets, baths, bath tubs, shower enclosures, shower valve etc...are you? If you're, have a look at Taps4Less.com, an online tap shop that uses ceramic valve technology and offers secure online shopping with FREE delivery service!!

Then came the lacy table clothe

before I finally found the actual gifts inside...

Nice candle holder

and two more cute Xmas candle holders...

Photo of the day: slaughtering the stray reeindeer on the loose! ;p

Airway infection

My baby has not been well for the past few days...all due to airway infection.

We brought him to the paed on Wednesday and he was given antibiotics, flu and cough medicines. But this morning we were a bit worried as his breathing seemed to be a bit heavy. So again we went to the paed just to have another check on him. The paed told us that the heavy breathing is due to the heavy mucus in his chest. It was quite bad that the paed said it is better to use the nebulizer on him so that the medicine will go straight to his lung to loosen the mucus in his chest. Best not to prolong the situation in order to prevent him from getting asthma too. Consequently, we were also asked to bring Ethan back to the clinic this evening to see if he needs another dosage using the nebulizer.

Ethan was still breathing quite heavily this morning. It got us both worried and so decided to bring him back to the paed just to check on him again...But as we were about to step out from the house, Ethan vomited and a large portion of the vomit was his mucus!! Thank goodness his breathing improved a lot after he had vomited the mucus out! Thus we decided we'll only go to the paed this evening....Despite the airway infection, Ethan is his usual active, playful and cheerful self though he seems to have lost a bit of his appetite...with the irritating mucus and cough...can't blame him right...hope my poor baby will get well soon....

Pleasant Xmas surprise

My SIL came yesterday and handed me a parcel and guess what were the contents and from who???

They were really cute Xmas gifts from a dear friend and an ex-colleague (we shared the same cubicle space hee..) of mine when I was working in Singapore previously!! Yay!!! :)

Cute aren't they? :)

I didn't waste much time in using one of the gifts huh..hee...

Me & SL at the former National Reference Libray at Stamford Road, Singapore (2004).

Thank you very much for your sweet thoughts and for remembering me Aunty SL!! MMmuahhhh!! :) I do miss the times with you and WH in NLB... Here wishing you and your loved ones a blessed and wonderful Christmas and an a dynamite new year!! ;p

What's you baby's gender??

I was talking to my SIL about baby's gender yesterday and coincidental my colleague showed me the new Lilian Too's 2008 calender which include a page on "Forecast Your Baby's Gender". So if you're interested, here's a snap shot of it for a quick reference. If you have friends who are interested in this topic too, quick, go tell them to visit my blog!! ;p

BTW, perhaps you would like to check for your own kids and let me know if this forecasting holds any truth hehe...mine doesn't seem right...or maybe my calculation is incorrect?? Hmm...wonder if the "age" here refers to the Chinese calendar coz then I need to add another year to my actual age right?? If thats' the case then mine is correct ...Hmmm...if only Lillian Too can verify this?? hehe...Anyway, have fun folks! ;p

Black coincidence

As I walked into the office yesterday morning, I faced two other ladies in black. Such a black coincidence that we gals decided to do a bit of camwhoring....

Me & my colleagues

Then joining the "Ladies in Black" is Lynn, one of the sexy mommies in the office

....and started reindeering around ;p

In Christmas mood already...

As Flo put it, the "rejected reindeer" hehe..

What great bargain I've got!!

I've got myself this really inexpensive (dead cheap at RM5!!) but elegant accessory from Givers Mart recently. It was my second visit to the "Korean charity" shop that sells clothes (second hand & brand new), accessories, toys, books etc. Sometimes if you're lucky (especially when new stock just came in), you can get really great bargain for branded stuff e.g. Fisher Price toys at a very discounted price!! You can also ask them to send you sms when new items arrive (which I did hehe...). If you wanna know where Givers Mart is, it's on top of the KFC at Bornion. They have another branch in Grand Millenium (near to the new CKS Supermarket and Krishnan Curry House) which was opened since July this year.

Wouldn't it be good if...

This morning as I was looking at the mirror, I saw panda eyes looking back at me :( All due to me rushing to submit my assignments during the recent weekend. I was up from Saturday till 3am on Sunday and was up again till almost midnight on Sunday no thanks to my forever procrastinate attitude towards assignments and exams...

Anyway, even though I was up till the wee hours, surprisingly I was able to wake up at 6.30am on Sunday. Not that I want to wake up that early, just that I had an online class at 7.30am. I even managed to do one load of laundry, folded Ethan's clothes and had cereal breakfast before I login for my online class :) I am thankful that I don't have to physically attend lectures at the university. Since the university offers online tutorial class, I can just login to the system and listen to my lecturer or read his chat text and reply to him via chat in my pyjama at home. I can even take a peek at Ethan once a while just to check if he's awake for his morning feed and hang the laundry in between the online tutorial. However, I do sometimes wish that the online class can be more real and interesting whereby I'm able to see not only my lecturer's face but also my coursemates (who are mostly in Kelana Jaya centre). Wouldn't it be good if the university have Video Conference Equipment . What's more if they implement a video communication solution that allows natural face to face teleconferencing experience as offered by LifeSize.

My "Christmas tree"

You Should Have a Pink Christmas Tree

For you, the holidays represent a time of friendship and sharing.
You're happy as long as you're spending time with the people you care about.

You are passionate about the holidays, and that start of the holiday season makes you very excited.
You sometimes go a bit overboard in your celebrations. You just can't help it!

Passionate, easily excited, sweet, giving, love, friendship, sensitive, caring

Your pink tree would look great with: More pink!

You should spend Christmas Eve watching: The Muppet Christmas Carol

What you should bake for Santa: Rice krispie treats with red and green food coloring

I wished and still wishing...

Most of the time, students will certainly take the opportunity to travel during or after their studies. I'm no exceptional though $$ was the main concern at that time. Nonetheless, I managed to do a little bit of travelling before returning home.

Some places became my vacation destinations simply because I have friends or relatives who were studying or staying in that particular area. One particular destination was Cardiff in Wales because one of my closest friends were studying there. I remember going to some tourist attractions in Cardiff which include the Cardiff Castle, the famous Llandaff cathedral, Millennium Stadium and others. I didn't need to find any cardiff hotels at that time as I just bunked in with my friend which is a normal student practice ;p

Being in the UK then, there are many places that I wished to go but unable to do so because $$ was pretty scarce during university life :( Some of the places and tourist attractions that I wanted to visit but didn't manage to were Dublin in Ireland; St. James park in Newcastle; and the museums in Leeds. These are just within UK, there are plenty of places outside of UK that I wished I could visit too. Anyway, I will need to look around for dublin hotels , newcastle hotels and leeds hotels when the time is right. But I guess, for now, I'll just have to wait till I strike lucky with the lottery since it is much more expensive to travel from Malaysia now!! Sigh...

Not at my desk

I attended a 3 days workshop organized by the Malaysia Technology Corporation Development (MTDC) on Monday till Wednesday at the Le Meridien recently. The workshop was on commercialization of technology. There were about 40 participants mainly from local universities and government sector. I think our company was the only odd one out being a private company in the troupe. Nevertheless, I've got to know and met some interesting people especially the scientists. The workshop in general was quite interesting and an eye opener especially on certain subjects to me :) The group presentations at the end of the workshop was surprisingly enjoyable too! Probably because most of the products that were presented are real products about to be commercialized and were given "free business consultation" by the facilitators which I happily observed to get some tips! ;p

It's the holiday season again!

December is definately a peak season for holidays. You’ll find many people taking time off from work for either a long break or a short one with their loved ones or friends. Should you not have done your flight bookings and hotel reservations early, you may end up being disappointed. There are many things to plan about when going for a holiday, besides your flight bookings and Hotel Reservations, you may also need to think about renting a car. But if you're the lazy sort, you can always opt for vacation packages. Anyway, one easy and hassle free way of doing all these is by going to HotelReservation.com. A one stop centre to take care of your much needed vacation :) I hope I can go for a nice family break next year...keep my fingers crossed ;p

Ethan's day out at the Mall

Last Saturday, we brought Ethan to Wisma Merdeka (one of the shopping complexes in KK) as I wanted to get a new pair of sunglasses. He seems to be quite a popular baby as we had a few ladies stopping by just to say hi or to touch the chubby him ;p My hubby is quite a happy man whenever Ethan’s admirers told him that Ethan is cute and that our precious looks like him as he equates that he is cute too (eyes rolling..) !! Anyway, Ethan seemed to have enjoyed the day out especially when he saw so many people with so many movements, colours and objects around him. He was indeed in a very jovial and excited mood as he conveyed it in his cute facial expression and baby talk :)

A new car ??

One of my closest friends told me of her plan to trade in her Avanza for a new Hilux. That got me thinking on should I change my existing small car or should I wait for a little longer. One thing about getting a new car is that I will have to take up an Auto Loan. As much as possible, I would like to keep any type of Loans or Personal Loan to a minimum if not zero. But I guess if I intend to get a new car or a second car, taking up a loan is unavoidable. Besides, it may not be wise to pay a brand new car in full using cash if you catch my drift ;p

Babies' talk

Here's a video of Ethans and Moira "talking" to each other. Watch how excited these two cousins were :)

My last paper!!!

Yeehaaa!!! Come 23rd December, I'll be sitting for my last paper!! Yippie!! So no more exams after that! Double yippie!! Yup, HRM will be the 13th and final subject for the MBA course that I'm currently taking. I've been taking the course part time since Aug 2004. I started it painfully after more than 10 years of exam free life but as time goes by and thanks to my encouraging darling hubby, family, friends and my dear course mates, I'm finally finishing the course!! This is of cause after almost giving up during the first semester, two deferred semesters due to my wedding and giving birth to my precious Ethan :) But after the HRM exam I still have to submit my project paper first before I can say I'm a free woman again!! :) But for me, doing a project paper is less daunting than having to face exams! The pressure of preparing for exams is always not to my liking or anyone’s for that matter. So you will find me a bit stress out during the next two weeks till the exam is over. The only worrisome part is that I have a bad habit for exams, yes, I'm a last minute kind of person too ;p So although I know there's an exam coming, you will see me typing away in my blog (like right now) or doing other things instead of studying. And as the exam time gets nearer, you'll find me frantically finding time to do some "smart studying" (yeah, right..) by trying to spot questions from the past years papers. Not a very wise move eh hehe...but perhaps what I should consider is something similar to what exam-prep.com provides. This site offers a self-paced Q&A software application designed especially to assist you study for special exams such as the Series 7 Exam. This may not be relevant to my exam but hey, similar software that uses Q&A to test my subject knowledge by a team of industry experts, all of whom are working professionals with up-to-date knowledge and experience in the industry would definitely be helpful in my exam preparations!

Ethan is 6 months old!!

Our 8.8kg baby @ 6 months old :)

My little Kung Fu fighter!!

Haiyaakk!!! ...My cute little kung fu fighter showing off his mighty kick!! ;) Yikes...look at the time...time to catch my beauty sleep...later peeps! :)

Opppssss...

On the way to fetch my precious Ethan from my MIL's yesterday evening, I just realised that we need to renew our road tax. That means we need to renew our car insurance as well. Luckily my dad is a general insurance agent. So I could rely on him to get the road tax and car insurance done :) In fact, he will normally remind us about it which he already did a few days ago. It was me who kept forgetting till today ;p Have you checked when are your road tax and car insurance due yet? Anyway, talking about insurance, maybe I should check on our home insurance and life insurance policies to see if it is in order, just to be sure ;p

Ethan enjoying the Christmas tree

The other day I blogged about our X'mas tree being up. Have a look at Ethan enjoying the view :)

...and obviously, his thumb still seems to be his favourite! ;p

Pay Per Post

Yay! My blog has finally got approved by Pay Per Post (PPP)!! So here I am beaming happily as I am able and hopeful to earn some extra pocket money! :) What a great timing as Christmas is just round the corner!! :) Maybe I should start making my shopping list!! hehe..How exciting!! :)

How did I know about PPP? Well, my interest in PPP began prior to my "conversion" to being a blogger. In fact, PPP was one of the main reasons why I started a blog. Previously, I was merely blog hopping and it was through blog hopping that I first got to know about PPP. I've read blogs that described about it and how some people managed to get additional incomes via PPP. Some even blogged about their cool purchases thanks to their PPP income e.g. laptop, SLR camera, ipod, mobile phone, baby stuff etc etc. Basically, PPP is a program that you can join and get paid for blogging. At first I was sceptical about it till I saw the amount of $$ that one of my closest friend's sister managed to get from PPP. That together with the fact that this very same friend is also earning pretty good income from PPP has helped me to make up my mind. I thought to myself, no harm in trying right. I could always do it during the nights when my precious is already asleep. So that persuaded me to start a blog and making sure I fulfilled the basic requirements of PPP before submitting my blog :) Now that my blog is finally approved, I may just be able to fulfill my dream of purchasing a DSLR camera!!! Yippie!! Thanks payperpost for this wonderful opportunity!! :)

FaceBook

Ok, I must admit though I have received numerous invitations to join FaceBook (FB) but I've just started to login recently. Since its the in thing now as everyone is talking about it, I thought what the heck, might as well check it out. Well, I did and I'm overwhelmed with all the applications and features that FB offers. It's indeed another avenue for me to keep in touch especially with my old friends not forgetting new friends too :)

Anyway, since I've decided not to go into too deep with FB just yet because I have an exam coming up pretty soon. So I shall keep it at arm's length for now before I get addicted. Except for checking photos, inbox, and adding old/new friends, you may find no responds from me. You may think that I'm such an arrogant person. Do rest assure I am not, I do still see all your messages, gifts, pokes, werewolves invitations, snow ball fights etc etc...But I may not response to you immediately for now. Please forgive me but I will get back to you after 23rd Dec :) Till then, keep it going yo! ;p

Thumb sucking habit

Like any babies, Ethan started his thumb sucking habit a few weeks ago...can't remember exactly when it started though coz it has been quite a while. We try not to let him sucks his thumb too much due to hygienic reasons obviously. Anyway, see how he innocently and slowly put his thumb in his mouth whenever he can...

I think he will start to suck his thumb when he is bored...which he is starting to feel here..

Watch his thumb getting nearer to his mouth...

So there goes his thumb into his mouth again! ;p

So engrossed...

Yup, that's our baby with saliva around his mouth after his thumb sucking session ;)
